Oven Baked Brisket
Here's a simple recipe with big flavor! Perfect for using the brisket from your beef bundle, but easy enough to do on a busy week. The leftovers make great sandwiches or tacos. The best part, no dirty dishes!
Oven Baked Brisket
Ingredients
- 1 whole beef brisket (trim most fat off)
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1 package onion soup mix
Directions
Line a 9x13 glass baking dish with a few layers of foil (easy cleanup!). Place brisket, ketchup and onion soup mix into a glass baking disk. Cover tightly with more foil. Let marinate for 12 hours in the fridge.
Place covered pan into a 300-degree oven and cook for about 4-5 hours. Check at the 4 hour mark for tenderness, meat should easily separate.
When meat is finished, remove from oven and place on a cutting board to slice. I like to refrigerate the sauce so I can remove any fat that comes to the surface. Add beef back into the sauce or spoon a hefty amount over.
It's great to eat with mashed potatoes, in sandwiches, on baked potatoes or to make nachos!
